Hi, I’m Jacinta 🌸
Teacher. Mum of three. Founder of Mindful Munchkinz. And a very big believer that children learn best when they feel safe, connected and genuinely understood.
I’ve spent almost 14 years working in primary education, and if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that no two children learn in exactly the same way.
Some children need more time. Some need more movement. Some need explicit, step-by-step teaching. Some need to hear something explained in a completely different way.
And sometimes, they simply need someone to look at them and say:
“I see you. We’ll work this out together.”
That is the kind of educator I’ve always wanted to be.
🌸 My heart for education
For me, connection always comes first.
Before I worry about what a child can read, spell, write or calculate, I want to know them.
What makes them laugh?
What are they amazing at?
What makes them nervous?
Where have they lost confidence?
And what will help them believe in themselves again?
Because when a child feels safe and genuinely known, something beautiful happens.
They become ready to learn.
My teaching combines that relationship-first approach with evidence-based, explicit instruction, particularly across literacy, numeracy and learning intervention.
I also have a huge heart for children who learn a little differently — including our neurodivergent learners and those who don't always fit neatly inside the traditional education box.
✨ Why I created Mindful Munchkinz
I created Mindful Munchkinz because I wanted learning support to feel different.
Not like more school after school.
Not like something a child attends because they're “behind”.
But a warm little space where children are known, encouraged, challenged and celebrated.
Small groups allow us to really notice the things that can be difficult to see in a busy classroom — the tiny gaps, the misconceptions, the missing building blocks and, just as importantly, the strengths.
And there is genuinely nothing better than watching a child go from:
“I can't do this.”
to...
“WAIT! I GET IT!” 💜
That's the magic.
🫶 What I believe
Relationships before results.
Confidence changes everything.
Children don't need to fit the teaching — the teaching needs to fit the child.
Evidence-based teaching and a whole lot of heart can absolutely coexist.
And most importantly...
Every child deserves someone in their corner who truly believes in them.
🌼 A little bit about me
When I'm not teaching, you'll usually find me with my husband and our three beautiful, very sporty kids — most likely somewhere beside a basketball court, athletics track or sporting field!
I'm warm, bubbly, empathetic, a big talker and an even bigger feeler. I love sunshine, beautiful conversations, laughing until my stomach hurts and creating spaces where people feel comfortable being completely themselves.
Being a mum has also changed the way I teach.
I know what it feels like to hand your child over to someone else and hope they'll really see them.
And that's something I never take lightly.
At the heart of everything I do is one very simple philosophy:
See the child. Build the connection. Find what they need. Then help them discover just how capable they really are. 🌸
